and what exactly is the point of this? should every object be designed in a foldable version?
May 4, 2009 at 3:28 pm |
this idea is retarded, all the skateboards you’ve designed look retarded and you will make no business or sales. maybe from a couple idiots for a good 2 months. but no more than that. sorry. if you want to know more about skateboarding you should take a look at this website.

Dear Eddie:
after checking out your youtube skate videos of you falling on your ass
to second rate hip-hop I have decided that there are better sites for you to check out like:
PBSboards.wordpress.com
May 5, 2009 at 7:09 am |
this is seems fairly pointless
and you have aggregator sites like core77, and design blogs reposting it
just a shiny render
on the positive side; obviously some thought as gone into making it foldable. maybe on a more space consuming and nessesary object next time Mr huang?
May 11, 2009 at 4:42 pm |
Hello John,
We have found a site that seems to think like you-
it is not an aggregator site, but this may have been just what you were really looking for:
PBSboards.wordpress.com
thank you!
May 7, 2009 at 12:13 am |
this is kinda pointless. sure, it does show some good rendering skills. however, the design is not good and NOBODY would want this in it’s current state. it folds up to be even more awkward and less portable!
May 11, 2009 at 4:39 pm |
I feel so bad for you- I hope you will feel better after viewing:
PBSboards.wordpress.com
it seems more like something that would interest you!
enjoy
May 7, 2009 at 10:40 am |
Railslides/boardslides would be really fun on that board!
May 7, 2009 at 1:05 pm |
why would you need to fold a skateboard.
how can you board slide on that thing.
whats the point.
weak.
May 11, 2009 at 4:36 pm |
lucky for you we have found a website that is more up your alley!
Please check out:
pbsboards.wordpress.com
yee-haw!

My decks do this all the time but at least I get to skate them first.
Seriously though, while the novelty of having a foldable skateboard may have intrigued Jin-Seok Hwang, I would suggest that this prototype remain in an AutoCAD form.
Imagining an adult on the cusp of his midlife crisis wearing Vans and Marc Jacobs sunglasses awkwardly pushing through the streets on this is just embarrassing and ridiculous. It’s bad enough we’ve given them scooters to strap to their back and navigate poorly through public places.
I suggest that they ignore the impulse to buy this seemingly convenient albeit heavy object and purchase a game console with a virtual skateboard game. It’s better to have them indoors reliving their childhood fantasies than in the way of the rest of us on the street.
May 11, 2009 at 4:37 pm |
thanks for the feedback. We at NG found it creative and hilarious.
we also feel that you got tricked into visiting our web blog because there is another one that seems way more in your field of interest!
it is called:
PBSboards.wordpress.com
!!

How does it work for the folks that like to do tricks? Will it collapse.
May 13, 2009 at 9:49 am |
Hello James,
we suggest for the folks that like to do tricks to get a board that is capable of doing tricks.
please scroll down and navigate our blog.
you might be able to find something you’ll like.

i saw a foldable surfboard once (not a concept, it was real). the idea being that it’s easy to travel with – throw on planes etc. can’t see any practical use for this thing even though the pictures are very nice.

July 14, 2009 at 7:21 pm |
i dont think its such a bad idea
August 13, 2009 at 11:12 pm |
instead of trying to make a fold-able skateboard, try figuring out on how to make them totally unbreakable and cheap.
August 14, 2009 at 9:47 am |
Making them unbreakable and cheap would put us out of business- we believe in an accelerated planned obsolesence philosophy: really expensive and basically disposable! Thanks for the request though. We might be able to get the guys at pbsboards.wordpress.com to solve that one
November 23, 2009 at 5:09 pm |
I honestly want to know that price and where i can get one.

I think it’s pretty tight
If your in grade school, great for lockers, and back pack
also great if you skate to a bus stop. You can just pop it in your back pack

Lame .. what’s the point .. skateboards are for skating not folding up. I feel bad for you that you have nothing better to do than sit aound and make usless crap. And yes the wood skateboard is awesome it has been awesome since the 70′s .. why would we want your piece of crap fold up ..stick to making lawn chairs …
October 12, 2010 at 12:52 pm |
ha ha you say it’s not for doing tricks but it is in fact a freestyle board design .. ? Why would you make it shaped like a freestyle board and not a normal fish shape if it’s not for doing tricks
October 19, 2010 at 9:22 am |
Why don’t you make a fish shaped coffin for yourself jackass

Modern Mean – Intimate Draft, Ideas, Styles, Architecture
April 9, 2011 at 12:49 pm |
Well I find this idea to be quite practical and interesting. Not everyone in the world is a hard core skateboarder who allows their entire life to be consumed by the “lifestyle”. Im just an everyday serious minded guy looking at practical transportation in such uncertain economic times (GAS!). I like this idea. How much would this item cost? is it, or will it be available for purchase? What does it weigh? and most importantly how would I get my hands on an item like this?

I have a difficult time understanding the intent behind some of the replies that you (ngboards) leave for people who are leaving their critique.
Honestly, I was inspired by this design to contribute to it’s function although seeing your reaction to others, I will keep the helpful suggestions to myself.
Good luck with your design business and it’s reputation-ruining behaviour.
August 15, 2011 at 7:11 am |
Thank you for not leaving your critique here. You might have noticed that we at NG are sort of like major corporations: we care about what you have to say, as long as you give us money. We did a survey and found that we make no money from know-it-all critique-inflicters and we make our mountains of dolla$ (that we sleep on and play paintball with caviar guns in) from people that we call “Cool” . So it is up to you which kind of person you are. A customer or a bustomer.

Damn! This would be perfect to me. I get bus to work but when I back home have two street that is all way down before and after my bustops and a portable skate that I could hide inside my backback would be perfect.

This is just a render, but a folding skateboard does exist now, and the design makes more sense as it folds into 3, not 2. there are videos on the website:
